St Vincent der Paul 2 67 – Small
‘Such are the ones who seek your face, who seek your face, O Lord.’
St Vincent de Paul was a French priest
who was devoted to loving God and serving those most in need.
He encouraged like-minded men and women
so that religious orders such as the Vincentians, the Sisters of Charity,
and later the Society of St Vincent de Paul,
grew up to support people in education, health and other social services.
He is credited with beginning the transformation of 17th century France
From Matthew 25
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in
‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Lord, St Vincent de Paul
Devoted his life to you and your people as a priest.
His care for the poor inspired others
to share a similar vision in the Vincentians, the Sisters of Charity
and in the Society of St Vincent de Paul.
As we honour him
let us truly act justly,
love tenderly,
and walk humbly in your presence
through Christ our Lord.
