St Mungo Music
Music is one of the most important tools to enable the parishes of the Archdiocese to promote the “full conscious and active participation” by all the faithful called for by the 2nd Vatican Council in public worship.
Accordingly, the Archdiocese of Glasgow Music Committee seeks to encourage good liturgical music practice in the archdiocese, supporting and encouraging collaboration among those involved in its preparation, and providing resources for cantors, psalmists, choirs, musicians, clergy, congregation, schools, composers, and liturgists. This website (with the linked Facebook) provides a substantial resource for the Archdiocese with music, recordings, psalms commentaries and articles.
Recently we have begun to present various categories of music such as
Entry Songs and Introits 2023
Psalms of the Liturgy 2023
Gospel Verses 2023
Mass parts 2023
Communion Verses 2023
Individual items can still be found in their own file, and we are trying Ito ensure that we provide downloadable music and recordings. Such a huge enterprise takes time so if enquirers cannot find music for the 'St Mungo Music' stable please let us know and it will be provided as soon as is possible.
Recordings are provided byThe St Mungo Singers and by many cantors from throughout the Archdiocese. Some articles describe events organised for / by the Archdiocese, or by Glasgow Churches Together or by the choir.
