Night Prayer 11 Wednesday
Led by Mary Molloy
May the almighty Lord grant us a quiet night and a perfect end. Amen.
Verse
From the rising of the sun to its setting great is the name of the Lord,
From the rising of the sun to its setting great is the name of the Lord,
high above the heavens is his glory.
Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever. Amen.
Introduction
At the end of the day we thank you, Father
for all the signs of your love for us revealed in the actions of the people we have met
Forgive us for the times when we have failed to care for your people,
and teach us how to do better in future.
Grant us to sleep peacefully through this night
and to glorify you by our words and deeds tomorrow.
Kyrie, eleison.
Psalm 29 I praise you. O Lord, bless you, O Lord, you have rescued me.
I will praise and bless you , Lord, you have rescued me, and have preserved me from enemy scorn.
You have raised my soul from the dead, restored me to life from the edge of the grave.
I praise you. O Lord, bless you, O Lord, you have rescued me.
To his holy name sing psalms of thanksgiving and praise if you truly have love for the Lord;
anger lasts so short a time, while favour continues as long as there is life.
I praise you. O Lord, bless you, O Lord, you have rescued me.
I will thank you, Lord, you change all my mourning to dancing and gladness in unending joy.
Lord, my God, you listened to me, you came to my help, I will thank you evermore.
I praise you. O Lord, bless you, O Lord, you have rescued me.
Reading
May the God who gives us peace make you completely his,
and keep your whole being, spirit soul and body free from all fault
at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Into your hands
Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit,
– Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit,
You have redeemed us, Lord, God of faithfulness,
– Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit,
Glory be to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
– Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit,
Into your hands, Lord, into your hands.
Save us, Lord, while we are awake; protect us while we sleep;
that we may keep watch with Christ and rest with him in peace.
from the Song of Simeon:
Lord, let your servant go in peace just as you promised long ago,
for my eyes have seen the salvation which you prepared for the nations to see,
a light to enlighten the pagans and the glory of your people, Israel,
and the glory of your people, Israel.
Let us pray
Lord our God, restore us again by the repose of sleep after the fatigue of our daily work
so that continually renewed by your help we may serve you in body and soul
through Christ ur Lord.
Amen.
Blessing
May the almighty Lord grant us a quiet night and a perfect end,
a perfect end. Amen.
