Morning Prayer Lent 4
Entry
Not by bread alone do we live, but by every word from the mouth of God;
Not by bread alone, Not by bread alone, Not by bread alone.
Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever. Amen.
Not by bread alone do we live, but by every word from the mouth of God;
Not by bread alone, Not by bread alone, Not by bread alone.
Prayer for Peace
We pray for peace in the Holy Land,
for Syria, Iraq and all the troubled countries
where people’s lives are threatened or taken from them
by violence or war.
We pray for refugees,
and for those who need to show mercy.
O God, come to our aid: O Lord, make haste to help us.
Glory to the father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever. Amen.
Psalm 115: I will walk in the presence of God.
I trusted when I felt afflicted, I walk in the sight of the Lord,
and even in the face of death, I will walk in the presence of God.
I will walk in the presence of God.
Your servant, Lord, is ever trusting. My bonds you have loosened with care.
I offer thanks and sacrifice, I will walk in the presence of God.
I will walk in the presence of God.
My vows to God I keep with gladness, I dwell in the house of my Lord.
My promises I will fulfill. I will walk in the presence of God.
I will walk in the presence of God.
Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit both now and for ever, Amen.
I will walk in the presence of God.
Let us pray
Lord, we bring ourselves,
not as we would like to be,
nor as we know we should be,
but as we are.
Hear us, as we pour out our souls to you,
and answer us with kindness through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Reading Exodus 19.4-6
You yourselves have seen what I did with the Egyptians, how I carried you on eagle’s wings and brought you to myself.
From this you know that now, if you obey my voice and hold fast to my covenant, you of all the nations shall be my very own for all the earth is mine.
I will count you a kingdom of priests, a consecrated nation.
Benedictus 4
And you, my child, are favoured by the Most High: you shall be called a prophet of our God.
You shall go forth as herald from the Lord, and shall prepare the ways on which he comes.
You shall make known the wonders of salvation to everyone called chosen by the Lord.
Intercessions
Blessed be God the Father.
He has given us the grace of offering the sacrifice of praise.
Let us pray to him with confidence:
Blest be God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Almighty Father, grant us a spirit of prayer and penance;
grant that we may love you and one another,
and to have a special respect for the poor.
Blest be God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Let us work with you to restore all things in Christ,
to renew the world through your justice and peace.
Blest be God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Teach us to respect all that you have made,
and to show goodness and generosity to all we meet.
Blest be God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Let us pray
You teach us, Lord, to discipline the body for the good of the soul:
give us grace to refrain from all sin,
and to set our hearts on fulfilling your precepts.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
May the Lord bless us, and keep us from all harm,
and may he lead us to eternal life.
