Of your charity, please pray for the repose of the soul of Father James Doherty, RIP
who has died in the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice.
Fr Jim (or “big Jim” as he was affectionately known) was ordained in 1979
and served in Saint Peter’s, Partick; Saint Laurence’s Drumchapel;
Our Lady and St Mark’s, Alexandria; St Robert Bellarmine, Pollok
and Saint Vincent de Paul in Thornliebank.
‘Larger than life,’ and with many gifts he was devoted to the Lord and people.
His favourite psalm setting was Ps 15: You show your friends the path of life, give them the fulness of joy.
Jim was appointed Parish Priest in Saint Vincent de Paul’s before taking ill with leukaemia.
He eventually returned to ministry as Parish Priest in Saint Joachim’s, Carmyle.
In his retirement, Jim was a friend to many and a trusted counsellor.
