INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED ORGANIST, DAVID BRIGGS, PLAYS RECITAL AT ST ALOYSIUS’ CHURCH, GLASGOW.
Glasgow’s St Aloysius’ College and St Aloysius’ Church are delighted to welcome internationally renowned organist David Briggs for a very special recital of the Church’s Taylor Family organ on Thursday 4th October 2018 at 7pm.
Currently Artist-in-Residence at the Cathedral of St John the Divine, New York City, and Organist Emeritus of Gloucester Cathedral, UK, David Briggs is acclaimed around the globe for his ability to engage and excite audiences of all ages with his performances. It is an honour to welcome him to Glasgow for what is sure to be a thrilling evening of music.
The Taylor Family organ is a recent addition to St Aloysius’ Church. It is a Van den Heuvel ‘Cavaillé-Coll’ organ, in the 19th-century French symphonic tradition, and was previously installed in the Duke’s Hall of the Royal Academy of Music in London under the tenure of Sir David Lumsden, a former Principal of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
The installation of the organ in 2015 was made possible by a number of generous donations from previous pupils of St Aloysius’ College including Maurice Taylor, renowned restauranteur and hotelier, after whose family the organ is named.
Tickets for the recital are priced at £12 for adults and £7 for children/students. They can be purchased directly fromwww.eventbrite.co.uk (search David Briggs).
