A Schools Morning Prayer for the Feast of St John Ogilvie
Will you come and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don’t know and never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown, will you let my name be know?
Will you let my life be grown in you and you in me?
Let us pray
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Let the faithfulness and courage of St John Ogilvie
Inspire us and all men and women of faith
to stand up for human dignity
and for what is right and true.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
Short Reading 2 Cor 1:3-5
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, a gentle Father and the God of all consolation,
who comforts us in all our sorrows, so that we can offer others, in their sorrows, the consolation that we have received from God ourselves. Indeed, as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so, through Christ, does our consolation overflow.
Intercessions
We pray for the church throughout the world,
here in our own country, where St John was born,
and in Glasgow where he died.
Lord, hear us
We pray for Pope Francis, for our bishops,
for the leaders of all the churches and communities of faith
and all men and women of good will.
Lord, hear us
We pray for our families, our school, and our friends.
Lord, hear us
We pray for people in need everywhere,
especially where their lives are menaced
or taken from them in violence or war.
Lord, hear us
a sung Verse from Psalm 22
The Lord is my shepherd; He’s all that I need;
The Lord takes such good care of me.
Beside the still waters, in pastures so green,
the Lord takes such good care of me.
Blessing: May the Lord bless us and keep us from all harm,
and may he lead us to eternal life.
