The St Mungo Singers are in a sense a family who mark the significant events in their members’ lives. They also mark the passing of members and sadly this became necessary for two retired members of the choir this week. The first was Ralph Staffieri who died on 6th July at the age of 88 and who had been a member of the choir for a number of years.
Ralph’s funeral took place in St. Paul’s Shettleston on 13th July, and the St. Mungo Singers joined members of Ralph’s family and friends as well as St. Paul’s choir in which Ralph had also sung, for his funeral Mass. As befitted the funeral of a singer (a bass in Ralph’s case), it was filled with music, and as Fr. Antony said at the end of the Mass, Ralph would surely now be singing with us in the angelic choir.
