On 9th June 2025, the St Mungo Singers joined the family, friends and parishioners at St Michael’s Dumbarton to say farewell to soprano Catherine Bell, a long time member of the choir, 
who died on 19th May from cancer.
Parish priest, Fr Vincent Toal, said that Catherine had been a woman of tremendous faith, particularly in the last weeks of her illness. He described her two main passions as caring – whether for family or in her work as a home carer or through her involvement with SPRED – and singing, both in the St Mungo Singers and in the local choral group.
Her love of music was reflected in her funeral Mass, thanks to the beautiful singing and playing of the parish musicians, with input also from the members of the St Mungo Singers present.
May Catherine be enjoying the music of heaven now. Rest in peace.
