radioalba.org christian schedule for week of 19th August
radioalba.org christian is an ecumenical, internet-based radio which promotes prayer and news of good things happening in the churches and among people of faith. It is sponsored by Glasgow Churches Together, by ACTS, and by the music Committee of the Archdiocese of Glasgow.
the morning hour at 7.00 o’clock is repeated every 60 minutes until 12 noon.
08.00: Morning Prayers this week are led by Brendan Gill, Donald McInnes, Gerry Fitzpatrick , Pat Graham SND, Stephen Eric Smyth and Mary Bradley Music is provided by the St Mungo Singers with cantors Grace Buckley, Catriona Glen, Helen Healy, and Elspeth Glasgow, with organist Jane McKenna, harpists Noel Donnelly and Teresa Irving, Violinist Clare O’Neil and Whistler John Allan. 8.20: looking ahead to next Sunday’s Gospel Canon Bob Hill speaks of Jesus describing himself as the bread from heaven.
8.24 A short interfaith service led by Sr Isabel Smyth. Then, on Sunday there is a Prayer for Europe,which is replaced on weekdays by short commentaries on the daily readings at Mass.
8.30 Our Magazine begins with a plea and reports (through Neville Kyrie-Smith and Aid to the Church in Need) from the Christians of Egypt. Then, from Flourish,
Joe Docherty gives us news and reminiscences of the the Lourdes Hospitalite marking 70 years of service to pilgrims going to Lourdes. And Stephen Eric Smyth reads his poem Cain.’
12.00: This week the SCO reveals the work which is done by Catholic priests in Scottish Prisons and will be documented on BBC 1. We also discuss Mhair Black MP’s comments on Catholic schools and the reaction to her comments from Barbara Coupar, Director of Scottish Catholic Education Service. Finally we discuss a light-hearted report about Mima Heaney, the 100-year old mass attender from Bonnybridge bridge, who has had dozens of parties to celebrate!
