Night Prayer 23 Monday

with Catherine MacMaster

May the almighty Lord grant us a quiet night and a perfect end.
Amen.

O God, come to our aid:
O Lord, make haste to helps.
Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever.
Amen.

Introduction

Father of us all, we thank you for goodness we have experienced today
forgive us our faults and failings
and let us grow in goodness through the love we receive from you and from each other.

Kyrie, eleison.

Psalm 109  In splendour I begot you before the dawn.

The Lord’s revelation to my master ‘Sit on my right:
your foes I will put  beneath your feet.’
In splendour I begot you before the dawn.

The Lord will wield from Sion your Sceptre of power:
rule in the midst of all your foes.
In splendour I begot you before the dawn.

A Prince from the day of your birth on the holy mountain:
from the womb before the dawn I begot you.
In splendour I begot you before the dawn.

Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever.
In splendour I begot you before the dawn.

Reading

They will see the Lord face to face and his name will be written on their foreheads
it will never be night again and they will not need lamplight or sunlight
because the Lord God will be shining on them.
They will reign for ever and ever and ever.

Into your hands

Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit,
Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit,
You have redeemed us, Lord, God of faithfulness,
Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit,
Glory be to the Father,  to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit,
Into your hands, Lord, into your hands.

Save us, Lord, whilst we are awake; protect us while we sleep;
that we may keep watch with Christ and rest with him in peace.

From the Song of Simeon

All powerful God,  you give us leave to go in peace as you have willed.
Our eyes this day have seen your light;
in love give quiet, peaceful end.

Let us pray
Lord Jesus Christ,
you offer to  those who follow you
a yoke that is good to bear and a burden that is light,
accept all that has been our lives today,
and grant us the rest that we need,
that we may better serve you for ever and ever.
Amen.

Blessing
May the Almighty Lord grant us a quiet night and a perfect end,
a perfect end.
Amen.
