‘How blest are those who have died in the Lord’
As Archbishop Nolan reflected in his opening words at the Mass in St Andrew’s Cathedral on 8 November, it scarcely seemed a year since Archbishop Conti’s death. He was joined by Bishops John Keenan and Joseph Toal, as well as many priests of the Archdiocese, to mark the anniversary.
A lovely message of appreciation was also read out at the Mass from Sheikh Sayed Ali Abbas Razami of the Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society, recalling the legacy of kindness, wisdom and grace which Archbishop Conti had left in the religious landscape of Glasgow through his work in inter-faith relations.
Reflecting on this, Archbishop Nolan said that we believe in one God and we pray that we will be brought together as children of that one God. He asked that we pray especially for peace in the Holy Land at this time of crisis.
The music of the liturgy was supported by the St Mungo Singers who had so often sung for Archbishop Conti and remembered him with great affection.
