Before Mass the St Mungo Singers will sing some suitable motets including:

There will be a short rehearsal of the music for ‘Firmly I believe and truly’
Mass will begin with ‘Come, Holy Ghost’ to Tallis’s tune
The Penitential Rite will include the Kyrie from the Missa de Angelis (Mass 8)
The Liturgy of the Word:
Psalm 103 to Mary Dickie’s setting
The Gospel will be acclaimed with ‘Praise to you, O Christ…. Come, Holy Spirit by Gerry Fitzpatrick
The Intercessions will be punctuated by the response:
‘God, our Father, hear our prayer: your kingdom come’ to music by John Bell.
The Liturgy of the Eucharist
The Preparation of Gifts will be introduced musically with the Gibbons setting of Come, Holy Ghost and the congregation will hopefully join in with Newman’s great hymn: ‘Firmly I Believe’
The Eucharistic Acclamations will be taken from Schubert’s German Mass
The Our Father will be intoned by the Archbishop in Latin and sung by those who are familiar with it.
The Agnus Dei will be Francis Duffy’s setting.
The Communion Antiphon will be ‘Father, I pray for them: may they be one in us, so that the world may believe it was you who sent me’ to Gerry Fitzpatrick’s setting.
During Communion the choir will lead us in the responsorial Taize setting of ‘Eat this bread, drink this cup’ and, if needed, in James Quinn’s version of Ubi Caritas, Where True Love is dwelling, sung to ‘Adoro te Devote’ tune.
The recessional will be the Canticle from the Letter to the Colossians ‘Let’s give thanks’ with the words by Stephen E Smyth and set to the splendid tune for ‘Alleluia Sing to Jesus’
