Feast of St Margaret 16th November 2018
I bow my knees: Canticle of Ephesians
I bow my knees before the Lord our God. Each fam’ly comes from God:
The Spirit strengthen yours with inner power. May Christ dwell in your hearts!
May you be filled now, filled with the fullness of God. May you be filled now, filled with the fullness of God.
The Spirit strengthen you with inner power. May Christ dwell in your hearts.
By faith may you be rooted and based in love and know the love of Christ.
May you be filled now, filled with the fullness of God. May you be filled now, filled with the fullness of God.
As we light our candle we pray for peace:
Lord, we pray for peace in the Holy Land,
For Syria, the Yemen, and all the troubled countries
where people’s lives are threatened or taken from them by violence or war.
We pray for refugees,
and for people who need to show mercy.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
O God, come to our aid: O Lord, make haste to help us.
Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever. Amen.
Psalm 102 The love of the Lord, the everlasting love blesses us all.
My soul give thanks, thanks to the Lord, All my being bless his holy name.
My soul give thanks, thanks to the Lord,never forget, never forget,
never forget all his blessings.
The love of the Lord, the everlasting love blesses us all.
The Lord is compassion and he is love, Slow to anger and rich in mercy.
The Lord fills your life with all that is good, Renewing your strength, crowning your love,
Never forget all his blessings.
The love of the Lord, the everlasting love blesses us all.
Glory to the Father, glory to the only Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever, now and for ever. Amen.
Let us pray
Father, we are grateful that your love for your people
has been seen so powerfully in the life and work of St Margaret.
Renew your grace within us,so that we, and all our nation,
may always find the good in any situation, face difficulties that lie before us with courage,
and walk together along our pilgrim way.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Gloria
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to his people,
peace to people of good will.
We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you,
we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.
Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son,
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,
you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;
you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.
For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit ,in the glory of God the Father. Amen.
A reading: 1 Corinthians 12:31 – 13-13
Alleluia, alleluia. This is what the Lord asks of you, this, only this:
to act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with your God. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel: Matthew 25: 31-46
Intercessions
May the souls of the faithful departed
Through the mercy of God rest in peace, rest in peace.
Canticle: from Ephesians 1: 3-10
We bless the God and Father of Jesus for he has blessed us freely in Christ.
He chose to lavish spiritual blessings from highest heaven. All this through Christ.
Long before founding all of creation, God made his plan and chose us in Christ,
that we be holy, blameless and loving, children adopted. All this through Christ.
God’s will is always that we might love him, source of all graces, witnessed in Christ;
love manifested, gift of redemption, pardon for sinners. All this through Christ.
St Andrew Sanctus
Memorial: We proclaim your death, O Lord . . . . .
Agnus Dei
Antiphon: Blessed are the poor in spirit, the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
Glory to the Father, glory to the Son, glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever. Amen.
After Communion
Blest be the Lord the God of Israel, who came to us; and brought us back from sin.
God raised for us a Saviour who is mighty,
his Saviour-Son from David’s house and line.
God promised this through holy men and women
who spoke for him down through the mists of time.
May the Lord bless us and keep us from all harm;
and may he lead us to eternal life. Amen.
