Ecumenical Morning Prayer 3 for Lent

Forgive them, Father dear, they know not what they do.
Forgive all those who for my sake forgive as I forgive.

This day redemption dawns, the world begins anew.
This day you will enjoy with me the peace of Paradise.

O Woman, sinless Eve, behold your new-born son.
O first to claim her as your own, behold your mother dear.

I cry to you, my God, why have you left my side?
Yet you will be with me at last when vict’ry will be mine.

Let us pray

God of the promise to Abraham, and of the Covenant with Moses,
you have triumphed in the raising of Christ from the dead.
Let us and all your people be filled with hope
as we recall the self sacrifice of Jesus
which led to the Resurrection.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Psalm 94: Listen to the voice of God. Harden not your hearts.

Come and sing with joy to God! Hail the rock who saves us!
Come before him giving thanks, praise the God who made us.
Listen to the voice of God. Harden not your hearts.

Come, adore on bended knee, praise the God who made us!
Praise the shepherd of our flock, praise the hand that leads us.
Listen to the voice of God. Harden not your hearts.

“Do not put me to the test, doubting like your fathers
In the desert long ago, when they tried my patience!”
Listen to the voice of God. Harden not your hearts.

Reading       1 Kings 8:51-53

Lord, we are your people and your heritage.
Be always watchful for the entreaty of your servant and of your people Israel,
and listen to us whenever we call to you.
For it was you who set us apart from all the peoples of the earth to be your own heritage.

 Intercessions

For those in our world who are hungry through war, famine, poverty or other causes; may our communities provide care and support.
Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

For those who do not have access to fresh water through drought, oppression, greed or other circumstances;
may we support those working to provide water where it is most needed.
Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

For those who are homeless because of poverty, war or disaster;
may we help them and show hospitality in our own communities and abroad.
Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

For the sick: that our parish communities ensure that the sick and housebound experience the love and sympathy of Christ.
 Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

For all those who are prisoners whether by law, oppression or conscience;
may we show them and their families compassion and generosity.

Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

For Pope Francis as he begins his 5th year as Pope,
for the leaders of all our churches,
and for all whose ministry is to support and encourage people in faith
and in the search for goodness.
Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

For the poor of our communities and of the world;
may we try ever harder as individuals, families and communities to provide alms to support the most needy.
 Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Our Father, who art in heaven… . . . .

Let us pray

Lord God, in your wisdom
you reconcile us to yourself through your Word.
Grant that your Christian people may support the needy throughout the world
and come with faith and joy to celebrate Easter.
We make our prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.

Amen.

Blessing

 God to enfold you, Christ to uphold you,
Spirit to keep you in heaven’s sight.
So may God grace you, heal and embrace you,
lead you through darkness into the light.
