Compline 2 Monday

Creator of the stars of night,
the people’s everlasting light,
Redeemer, Saviour of us all,
O hear your servants when they call.

To God the Father, God the Son,
and God the Spirit, Three in One,
Praise, honour, might and glory be
from age to age eternally.

As the day draws to its conclusion
We thank the Lord
That we have seen his grace
In the lives of people round about us,
In our families and friends, our colleagues
And in the wider community.
We ask for the wisdom to be encouraged by his presence
And for forgiveness for our own sins and failings.

(St Andrew) Kyrie, eleison. Kyrie, eleison.
Christe, eleison. Christe, eleison.
Kyrie, eleison. Kyrie, eleison.

Psalm 83 How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord God of hosts.

My soul is longing and yearning for the house of the Lord.
My heart and soul ring out their joy to God the living God.
How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord God of hosts.

The sparrow finds a home, the swallow a nest for her brood,
she lays her young by your altars, O Lord, my King, my God.
How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord God of hosts.

They are happy who dwell in your house for ever singing your praise,
They are happy whose strength is in you, they walk with ever growing strength.
How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord God of hosts.

Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever. Amen.

How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord God of hosts.

Reading 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10

God chose us to win salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us
so that,
alive or dead, we should still live united to him.

Responsory
Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit.
You have redeemed us, Lord God of truth.
Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit
Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit.

Save us, Lord, while we are awake;
protect us while we sleep
that we may keep watch with Christ
and rest with him in peace.

from the Song of Simeon

All powerful God, you give us leave
to go in peace as you have willed.
Our eyes this day have seen your light;
in love give quiet, peaceful end.

Let us pray
Come to visit us, Lord, this night,
So that by your strength we may rise at daybreak
To rejoice in the resurrection of Christ your Son,
Who lives and reigns for ever and ever.

Blessing:

May the almighty Lord grant us a quiet night
and a perfect end.
Amen.
