This Mass was celebrated quietly in St Leo’s for Mary on the day of her funeral, 16th April 2020. She was a parishioner of St Leo’s, though she also shared the life of St Albert’s, worked assiduously for the St Mungo Old Folks Club and was an Oblate of Pluscarden Abbey. She was a devoted member of the St Mungo Singers and of the Archdiocesan Music Committee so the music that can be heard has been added from the choir’s files, and it includes the voice of Mary singing Ps 115 which she recorded at Pluscarden Abbey many years ago. She also sang with the choir in all the music which is heard at the Mass.

‘How blest are those who have died in the Lord; let them rest from their labours for their good works go with them.’ Noel Donnelly’s setting of these words from the Apocalypse are a fitting conclusion to the Mass for Mary.  She has gone to the Lord with a heart full of faith and with years of generous service to his people.  May she rest in peace and joy.
