My dearest Lord, be thou a bright flame before me,
be thou a guiding star above me,
be thou a smooth path beneath me,
be thou a kindly shepherd behind me,
today and ever more, today and ever more.
My dearest Lord, encircle me around in love,
to walk in paths of peace and grace,
to reach out in faith and trust,
to sing a song of gentleness and joy today and evermore,
today and evermore.
