Every year the people of the Archdiocese are invited to pray for the deceased Archbishops, Bishops and clergy who have served the community in Glasgow. This year the Requiem Mass took place on 6th November in St Andrew’s Cathedral. A substantial congregation joined Archbishop Tartaglia and a number of priests from across the Archdiocese for the Mass, with the St. Mungo Singers offering musical support.

How blest:

In his homily, Archbishop Tartaglia welcomed everyone and thanked them for coming to remember the priests who had been part of their communities. Prior to the start of the Mass, he had gone to the crypt of the Cathedral with the concelebrants to pray at the tombs of his predecessors buried there. The names of those who had died in the preceding year were read out, and the Archbishop said that there was no better way of giving thanks for their service in bringing the Lord to their parishes in Word and Sacrament during their lives than by offering Mass for them.
