Night Prayer 18 Tuesday
with Steven Muir
May the almighty Lord grant us a quiet night and a perfect end.
Amen.
You must love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul;
You must love the Lord your God with all your mind and strength.
And you must love your neighbour as you love yourself.
You must love the Lord your God with heart and soul and mind and strength
and your neighbour as yourself.
You must love the Lord your God : version (c) Stephen Smyth
Introduction
Lord, thank you for the beauty of your love
reflected in the faces of people we have met today.
Forgive us for the times when we did not reflect your love to others,
when we missed chances to accept your freely given grace.
Grant us a peaceful night and a brand new day
when we might try again to do your will and glorify your name.
Kyrie, eleison. Christe, eleison. Kyrie, eleison.
Psalm 109: In splendour I begot you before the dawn
The Lord’s revelation to my master sit on my tight.
Your foes I will put beneath your feet.
The Lord will wills from Sion your sceptre of power,
rule in the midst of all your foes.
A prince from the day of your birth on the holy mountain
from the womb before the dawn I begot you.
Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to to the Holy Spirit now and for ever.
Reading
Listen, Israel, the Lord our God is the one Lord:
you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul, with all your strength;
let these words I urge on you today be written on your heart;
you shall repeat them yo your children,
and say them over to them whether at rest in your house or walking abroad
at your lying down or at your rising.
Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit.
Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit.
You have redeemed us, Lord God of faithfulness.
Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit.
Glory be to the Father, to the Son and HolySpirit.
Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit.
Into your hands, Lord, into your hands.
Save us, Lord, whilst we are awake; protect us while we sleep;
that we may keep watch with Christ and rest with him in peace.
From the Song of Simeon
Lord, let your servant go in peace
just as you promised long ago:
for my eyes have seen the salvation
which you prepared for the nations to see:
a light to enlighten the pagans
and the glory of your people,
and the glory of your people, Israel.
Let us pray
Come to visit us, Lord, this night
so that by your strength we may rise at daybreak
to rejoice in the resurrection 0f Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
Blessing
May the Almighty Lord grant us a quiet night and a perfect end,
a perfect end.
Amen.
