Night Prayer 17 Tuesday
with Frances Dunlop
May the almighty Lord grant us a quiet night and a perfect end.
Amen.
Guard us, Lord, as the apple of your eye,
guide us in the shadow of your wing
Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever.Amen.
Introduction
Thank you, Father of us all,
for the goodness we have experienced today
at home, or work, or wherever else we have been.
Forgive us for any lack of kindness, mercy or generosity
we have shown to others.
Let us rest well so that tomorrow we may be more full of life
and kinder to others.
Kyrie, eleison.
Psalm 120
Guard me, Lord, Enfold me in peace. Bless your servant, Lord.
I look up to the hills on high. Where can I find help?
Lord of the Earth! Lord of the Skies! come down, enfold me in peace.
Guard me, Lord, Enfold me in peace. Bless your servant, Lord.
All my help comes from God the Lord, who made heav’n and earth.
He does not fail, He stays awake. Guards me, surrounds me with Love.
Guard me, Lord, Enfold me in peace. Bless your servant, Lord.
God protector of Israel never sleeps on guard.
Be at my side! Guard me with love Lord, in your shadow I lie.
Guard me, Lord, Enfold me in peace. Bless your servant, Lord.
From all evil He keeps me safe. He will guard my soul.
No sun by day, no moon by night. Nothing can harm where I lie.
Guard me, Lord, Enfold me in peace. Bless your servant, Lord.
Reading
Lord, you are in our midst,
we are called by your name.
Do not desert us, Lord.
Into your hands
Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit,
– Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit,
You have redeemed us, Lord, God of faithfulness,
– Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit,
Glory be to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
– Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit,
Into your hands, Lord, into your hands.
Save us, Lord, while we are awake; protect us while we sleep;
that we may keep watch with Christ and rest with him in peace.
from the Song of Simeon
Lord, let your servant go in peace just as you promised long ago,
for my eyes have seen your salvation
which you prepared for the nations to see:
a light to enlighten the pagans and the glory of your people,
and the glory of your people, Israel.
Let us pray
Give us grace, almighty God,
so to unite ourselves in faith with your only Son,
who died and lay buried in the tomb
that we may rise again in newness of life with him
who loves and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.
Blessing
May the Almighty Lord grant us a quiet night and a perfect end,
a perfect end.
Amen.
