Morning Prayer 6

Grace to you and peace from God the Father,
grace to you and peace from the Lord, Jesus Christ.
Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever.
Amen.

As we light our candle for peace we say:
Lord,

We pray for peace in the Holy Land,
for Syria and all the other troubled countries
where people’s lives are spoiled or taken from them by violence or war.
We pray for refugees,
and for generous hearts for those who need to show mercy.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Psalm 1: How joyful are the hearts of all who trust in the Lord.

How happy is the one who shuns the sinner’s headstrong way,
but takes delight by day and night in pondering God’s law.
How joyful are the hearts of all who trust in the Lord.

Such folk are like a tree that grows beside a flowing stream.
Its fruitful harvest never fails, its leaves stay fresh and green.
How joyful are the hearts of all who trust in the Lord.

The wicked blow like winnowed chaff before a driving wind.
The just will know God’s loving care, while wicked ways are …….
How joyful are the hearts of all who trust in the Lord.

Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit now and ever more.
How joyful are the hearts of all who trust in the Lord.

Let us pray:

Almighty ever living God, you call us
to act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly before you.
Give us generous hearts that we may walk together
with the companions you have given for our journey.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

The Intercessions

Preparation of the Gifts

A new commandment I give unto you: that you love one another
as I have loved you, that you love one another, as I have loved you.

By this shall all men know that you are my disciples –
if you have love one for another.
By this shall all men know that you are my disciples –
if you have love one for another.

A new commandment I give unto you: that you love one another
as I have loved you, that you love one another, as I have loved you.

Communion
Taste and see, taste and see that the Lord God is good.
Glory to the Father, glory to the Son, glory to the Holy Spirit
Now and for ever. Amen.

After Communion a verse of the Benedictus (verse 1)

Blest be the Lord the God of Israel, who came to us and brought us back from sin.
God raised for us a Saviour who is mighty,  his Saviour-Son from David’s house and line.
God promised this through holy men and women who spoke for him down through the mists of time.

Blessing

May the Lord bless us and keep us from all harm;
and may he lead us to eternal life.
Amen.
