Morning Prayer 4  The Year

As we light our candle for peace:
Let us pray:

Lord,

We pray for peace in the Holy Land,
for Syria and all the other troubled countries
where people’s lives are spoiled or taken from them
by violence or war.
We pray for refugees,
and for generous hearts for those who need to show mercy.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Psalm 137 I thank you, O Lord, with all my heart, you hear my prayer.

I thank you for love and for faithfulness, greater than we ever knew.
When I called you answered me, you increased my strength.
I thank you, O Lord, with all my heart, you hear my prayer.

The kings of the earth shall give thanks to you, hearing the words of my mouth.
They shall praise the name of God, “Glory to the Lord”.
I thank you, O Lord, with all my heart, you hear my prayer.

The Lord is almighty yet looks on me; the haughty he knows from afar;
though I walk the way of pain he will give me life.
I thank you, O Lord, with all my heart, you hear my prayer.

Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever. Amen.
I thank you, O Lord, with all my heart, you hear my prayer.

Let us pray

Loving God, hear our prayer this day,
help us to walk in the light that you give us
and to work for truth
so that we may bear witness to you in all that we do.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.   Amen

Collect or Gloria

The reading

The reading

Before the Gospel we sing:

Alleluia, alleluia. Alleluia, alleluia.
Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
for revealing the myst’ries of the Kingdom to children.
Alleluia, alleluia. Alleluia, alleluia.

The Gospel

Intercessions

Lead me, Lord, lead me in thy righteousness, make thy way plain before my face.
Lead me, Lord, lead me in thy righteousness, make thy way plain before my face.
For it is thou, Lord, thou, Lord only, that makest me dwell in safety.
For it is thou, Lord, thou, Lord only, that makest me dwell in safety.

Sanctus St Gregory

St Gregory Memorial

St Gregory Agnus Dei

Communion verse:

Father, I pray for them: may they be one in us
so that the world may believe it was you who sent me,
it was you who sent me.

After communion a verse of the Benedictus (Verse 4)

And you, my child, are favoured by the Most High: you shall be called a prophet of our God.
You shall go forth as herald from the Lord, and shall prepare the ways on which he comes.
You shall make known the wonders of salvation to everyone called chosen by the Lord.

Blessing

May the Lord bless us and keep us from all harm;
and may he lead us to eternal life.
Amen
