Fr Eddie was born in Glasgow in 1926 and ordained in 1959. His ministry took him to a large number of parishes including:
Blessed John Ogilvie’s Easterhouse; Our Holy Redeemer’s Clydebank;: St Roch’s; St Mary’s Duntocher; Our Lady of Fatima;
St Saviour’s Govan; St Ronan’s Bonhilll.
When he retired, Eddie was very generous in supporting priests who needed help when they had to be absent from their parishes,
and apart from a large contingent of priests and people from the Archdiocese of Glasgow there were representatives from Galloway
and from Argyll and the Isles, in particular from Millport and the Isle of Bute.
He left some guidance for the funeral liturgy including two photographs of himself as a young man and then as a retired priest
wearing a Christmas hat.
His intercessions included:
‘For all those who mourn the loss of a loved one.
May their grief be lightened by the Risen Lord
and his promise to unite us again in our heavenly home.’
He also asked for a Piper and a harpist and we were happy to oblige.
He died at St Joseph’s Nursing Home, Robroyston, His Requiem Mass was celebrated at the Chapel of St Joseph’s nursing home on
Wednesday June 17 at 11am with Archbishop Philip Tartaglia and a large number of people and the support of the Archdiocesan
Choir, the St Mungo Singers.
‘How blest are those who have died in the Lord. Let them rest from their labours.’
