The St Mungo Singers is as much a family as it is a choir, and as such it came together on 15th/16th April for the funeral vigil and Mass for Catherine (Cathy) Mulrine, a retired member of the choir who had died at the grand age of 97. Singers joined family members and parishioners for the services at St Leo the Great parish. Mgr Gerry Fitzpatrick who presided, was joined by Fr Damien of St Anthony’s Govan, where Cathy had been a parishioner.
Mgr Gerry recalled Cathy as a feisty and generous character who had, during her long life, been a Major in the ATS, a clippy on the trams and then on the buses and trolleybuses, as well as a great baker often using her skills for charity fundraising. She had also been a dressmaker, making clothes for her nieces, as well as holding great family parties.
Rest in peace, Cathy.
I know that my redeemer lives.
On the last day I shall rise again
and in my flesh I shall see God,
the living God.
