All Souls Day
Morning Prayer on radioalba.org christian at 8.00 a.m. and every 30 minutes until 11.30.
How blest are those who have died in the Lord.
Let them rest from their labours,
Let them rest for their good works go with them,
For their good works go with them.
Eternal rest give unto them, O Lord,
And let perpetual light shine on them
May they rest in peace. May they rest in peace.
May they rest in peace. May they rest in peace.
Let us pray
God, you loved the world so much that you gave us your Son.
May you recognise the face of your Son
in our brothers and sisters who have gone before us,
and may you see in them
what you see in your Son.
Forgive, heal and transform them
through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Psalm 50 O God, you will not spurn a humbled, contrite heart.
Have mercy on me, God, in your kindness.
In your compassion blot out my offence.
and cleanse me from my sin.
O God, you will not spurn a humbled, contrite heart.
My offences truly I know them.
My sin is always before me.
Against you alone have I sinned;
what is evil in your sight I have done.
O God, you will not spurn a humbled, contrite heart.
A pure heart create for me, O God,
put a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from your presence,
Nor deprive me of your holy spirit.
O God, you will not spurn a humbled, contrite heart.
Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
Glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever. Amen.
O God, you will not spurn a humbled, contrite heart.
1 Thessalonians 4:14
We believe that Jesus died and rose again,
and that it will be the same
for those who have died in Jesus:
God will bring them with him.
Benedictus 1
Blest be the Lord the God of Israel,
who came to us; and brought us back from sin.
God raised for us a Saviour who is mighty;
his Saviour-Son from David’s house and line.
God promised this through holy men and women
who spoke for him down through the mists of time.
Prayers and Intercessions
Let us cry out to God the almighty Father,
who raised Christ from the dead and will bring life to our own mortal bodies:
– Lord, bring us to life in Christ.
Holy Father, in baptism we die and are buried in Christ
and share his resurrection.
When we ourselves die, we look forward to living forever with Christ.
– Lord, bring us to life in Christ.
Loving Father, you have given us the bread from heaven to be our spiritual food:
Raise us up on the last day.
– Lord, bring us to life in Christ.
Lord, you sent an angel to give your Son strength in his agony:
as we ourselves are dying, bring us your gentle consolation.
– Lord, bring us to life in Christ.
God of the living and the dead, you raised Jesus from the dead:
raise up all the dead, and bring us as well as them to eternal glory.
– Lord, bring us to life in Christ.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Responsory
Just as Jesus died and rose
So those who sleep in him will be restored by God.
As in Adam all have died,
So all will live in Christ, will live in Christ.
Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
Glory to the Holy Spirit
Now and for ever.
Amen.
Grant, Lord, we pray,
that as our faith is built on the Risen Christ,
so too our hope may be steadfast
as we await the resurrection of all the faithful departed.
We make our prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen.
God to enfold you. Christ to uphold you.
Spirit to keep you in heaven’s sight:
So may God grace you, heal and embrace you,
lead you through darkness into the light.
May the Lord bless us and keep us from all harm;
and may he lead us to eternal life.
