Introit:
Just as Jesus died and rose
So those who sleep in him will be restored by God.
As in Adam all have died, so all will live in Christ, will live in Christ.
Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever. Amen.
Penitential Rite:
You were sent to heal the contrite of heart: Kyrie, eleison.
Kyrie, eleison.
You came to call sinners: Christe, eleison.
Christe, eleison.
You are seated at the right hand of the Father to intercede for us>
Kyrie, eleison. Kyrie, eleison.
The Liturgy of the Word
A reading from the Book of Wisdom 3: 1-9
Ps 22: His goodness will follow me always to the end of my days.
The Lord is my shepherd: there is nothing I shall want
Fresh and green are the pastures where he gives me repose.
Near restful waters he leads me to revive my drooping spirits.
His goodness will follow me always to the end of my days.
In truth he guides me along the right path,
If I should walk in the valley of darkness no evil would I fear.
You are there with your crook and staff, with these you give me comfort.
His goodness will follow me always to the end of my days.
You have prepared a banquet for me in the sight of my foes.
My head you have anointed with oil, my cup is overflowing.
His goodness will follow me always to the end of my days.
Goodness and kindness shall surely follow me all the days of my life.
In the Lord’s own house shall I dwell for ever and ever.
His goodness will follow me always to the end of my days.
A reading from the Letter to the Romans 5: 5-11
Alleluia, alleluia. Alleluia, alleluia.
If we have died with Christ, then we shall live with him.
If we hold form then we shall reign with him.
Alleluia, alleluia. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel | Luke 7:11-17 |
Intercessions
We sing: Remember those, O Lord, who in your peace have died,
yet may not gain love’s high reward till love is purified!
With you they faced death’s night,
sealed with your vic’try sign,
soon may the splendour of your light on them forever shine.
Let’s pray for our relatives, friends and fellow parishioners who have died:
May God who gave them life, and the hope of eternal life in baptism, give them happiness and peace with all the saints .
Lord, hear us . . . . .
We pray for all who mourn, And we thank the Lord for the lovely qualities we have seen in the lives of those who have left us for a while and gone to the Kingdom of God.
Lord, hear us
We pray for the family members, the friends, the doctors and nurses and all who cared for our dead.
Lord, hear us . . . .
We pray that the Gospel message of hope in eternal life
may be communicated better to the world we live in
so that people everywhere may live in hope.
Lord, hear us . . . .
We sing: May the souls of the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace, rest in peace.
During the Preparation of the Gifts we sing:
How blest are those who have died in the Lord:
Let them rest from their labours, let them rest
for their good works go with them, for their good works go with them.
Eternal rest give unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine on them:
may they rest in peace, may they rest in peace.
St Gregory: Holy, holy Holy
Memorial:
St Gregory Agnus Dei
Communion:
This is the bread come down from heaven:
whoever eats of it will never die.
This is the cup of eternal life:
Whoever drinks of it will live for ever.
Before the Blessing:
Receive their souls, receive their souls,
and present them to God the Most High.
Receive their souls, receive their souls,
and present them to God the Most High.
Eternal rest give unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
Receive their souls, receive their souls . . . . . .
