MP 10th January

In the morning let me know your ways,
Let me know the way I should walk.
Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever.   Amen

We light our candle for peace and say together:

Lord God,
we pray for the Holy Land,
For Syria and the Yemen
and all the troubled counties of the Middle East and Africa,
where peoples lives are threatened or taken from them
by violence or war.
We pray for refugees
and for all who need to show mercy.

O God, come to our aid:    O Lord, make haste to help us
Glory to the Father . . . . .

Psalm 79: God of hosts bring us back; lead us and we shall be saved.

 O shepherd of Israel, hear us, shine forth from your cherubim throne.
O Lord, rouse up your might, come to our aid.
God of hosts bring us back; lead us and we shall be saved.

God of hosts, turn again, we implore you; look down from heaven and see,
O visit this vine and protect what your right hand has sown.
God of hosts bring us back; lead us and we shall be saved.

Lay your hand on the man you have chosen,
the man you have given your strength,
O Lord, fill us with life, we call on your name.
God of hosts bring us back; lead us and we shall be saved.

We pause for a short time of private prayer then continue with the Gloria of the Mass

Glory to God in the highest
and on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you,
we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son,
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,
you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;
you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father.
Amen

To welcome the Gospel we sing

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.  We saw his star as it rose and have come to do him homage; we saw his star as it rose.
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

The Intercessions:

Child in the manger! Infant of Mary; Outcast and stranger, Lord of all!
Child who inherits all our transgressions, all our demerits on him fall!

But the most holy Child of Salvation, gentle and lowly lived below;
Now as our glorious Mighty Redeemer, see him victorious o’er each foe.

Prophets foretold him — Infant of wonder; Angels behold him on his throne;
Worthy our Saviour of all their praises, happy for ever are his own.

Agnus Dei

Communion:   Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world>
Blessed are those called to the banquet of the Lamb.

After communion: a verse of the Benedictus

God swore his oath to Abraham and Sarah,
to give us all our freedom from all fear;
to save each one from those who seek to harm them,
that we might serve in holiness of life,
that we might serve in justice and in truth,
our ev’ry day in presence of the Lord.

After Mass:

May the Lord bless us, and keep us from all harm,
And may he lead us to eternal life.
