Our next performance will be at the Holy Trinity Church in Ayr on 9 March. The programme will include choral music of the Russian church, state and countryside with an emphasis on St. Petersburg composers, including Bortnyansky, Lvov, Glinka, and members of the city’s later ‘Might Handful’. The programme contains church music for the present season of Lent; secular compositions by Glinka; music from the Requiem for Fallen Brothers written by Kastalsky during the First World War; and folksongs – some genuine, some composed in imitation.
