A Schools Morning Prayers for the 1st week of Lent
Not by bread alone do we live, but by every word from the mouth of God.
Not by bread alone, not by bread alone, not by bread alone.
Let us pray
Father of us all,
As we celebrate Lent we thank you for all you give us
and we offer you this day with generous hearts through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Psalm 17:
I love you, Lord, my strength, my rock, my fortress, my saviour,
My God is the rock where I shelter, my shield my mighty help.
I love you, Lord my strength.
The Lord is worthy of praise, He saves me from all my foes,
Long life to the Lord, God my Saviour, All praise to God who saves.
I love you, Lord my strength.
I thank you, Lord, for your love. I praise you for all your kindness,
I love you, O God, for your goodness, I love you, Lord my strength.
I love you, Lord my strength.
a short reading from St Matthew’s Gospel 5: 16
Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
Intercessions
We pray that we may so love our families and friends
that we pray for them each day of Lent. Lord, hear us
We pray that during Lent
We may be able to do without something
and be able to offer it to God. Lord, hear us
We pray that
Being aware of the needs of others
We may be generous to them. Lord, hear us
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses As we forgive those who trespass against us,
And lead us not into temptation But deliver us from evil
Blessing: May the Lord bless us, and keep us from all harm,
and may he lead us to eternal life.
Not by bread alone do we live, but by every word from the mouth of God.
Not by bread alone, not by bread alone, not by bread alone
