The second member of our St. Mungo Singers family that we said farewell to was Nancy Scott who had been a member of the choir for over 40 years. Nancy had originally come to the early music courses to help make the tea but, like many others, found herself cajoled into singing in the St. Mungo Singers by Fr. Gerry.
Nancy sang in the altos and was a stalwart, always to be relied on to turn up for a service, no matter when or where. She was also an expert dressmaker who had worked for a number of well-known fashion companies. The choir benefitted as a group and as individuals from her skills and contacts, with designs for choir blouses, wedding and communion dresses and much more.
In her latter years, Nancy suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and sadly had to go into care. She died on 10 July 2017 at the age of 83, not long after her husband Pat. Her funeral took place in St. Paul’s Whiteinch, and was attended by family, friends, parishioners and many of the St.Mungo Singers family.
