Let us pray

Loving Father,
your children everywhere yearn for contentment and peace,
yet so many have lives made difficult by deprivation and other evils.
Let none of us lose sight of the inalienable dignity of all that is human,
nor of your care for each one of us.
Come and save us, Lord,
for you we long.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen

At the end of the Morning Prayer the sung blessing: ‘May the Lord bless us and keep us from harm, and may he lead us to eternal life’ is followed by Wesley’s evocative ‘Lead me, Lord.

Schools Morning Prayer comes from St Monica’s Primary School in Milton, Glasgow. The Prayer opens with a snatch of ‘The Dark Island’ and the imaginative use of a ‘Scots’ idiom lets the the readings and prayers be comprehensible – well done, St Monica’s.
