Morning Prayer 12 (The Year)

O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer,
when I call, answer me.
O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer,
come and listen to me.

Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit now and ever more.

O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer,
when I call, answer me.
O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer,
come and listen to me.

As we light our candle for peace, we pray:

Lord,
we pray for peace in the Holy Land,
for Syria and all the other troubled countries
where people’s lives are spoiled or taken from them by violence or war.
We pray for refugees,
and for generous hearts for those who need to show mercy.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

We sit for the psalm

Psalm 18: Lord, you have the message of eternal life.

The law of the Lord is perfect, it revives the soul.
The rule of the law is to betrusted,it gives wisdom to the simple.
Lord, you have the message of eternal life.

The precepts of the Lord are right, they gladden the heart
The command of the Lord is clear; it gives light to the eyes.
Lord, you have the message of eternal life.

 The fear of the Lord is holy, abiding forever;
The decrees of the Lord are truth, and all of them just.
Lord, you have the message of eternal life       .

They are more to be desired than gold, than the purest of gold;
and sweeter are they than honey, than honey from the comb.
Lord, you have the message of eternal life

Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit both now and ever more.
Lord, you have the message of eternal life.

Let us pray

Father of us all,
you have taught us through the Law and the Prophets,
with the example of holy men and women throughout the ages,
and finally through your Son, Jesus Christ.
Increase our desire to be like him
who lives and reigns with you,
God, for ever and ever. Amen.

We stand for the Collect or the Gloria

The reading

The Gospel Acclamation

Alleluia, alleluia. At various times in the past

And in various different ways

God spoke to our ancestors, God spoke through the prophets:
Now in our times he has spoken through his Son. Alleluia, alleluia.

The Gospel

Intercessions

After the intercessions and as we prepare the gifts,
we might sing this Taize chant 3 times.

Sanctus

Memorial

Agnus Dei

After communion a verse of the Benedictus (verse 2)

The Saviour comes to free us from our foes, from evil hands, from those who wish us ill.
So God’s great love for all his chosen people is thus fulfilled; in these our present times.
God’s sacred oath his covenant most holy is called to mind, his promises made true.

Blessing
May the Lord bless us and keep us from all harm;
and may he lead us to eternal life. AMEN
