The Late Edna Dunn

The Late Edna Dunn

Members of the St. Mungo Singers joined family members, and parishioners and parish musicians of St. Bernadette’s, Carntyne, on 30 July to say farewell to Edna Dunn who had died at the age of 89. Edna had been a member of the St. Mungo Singers for many years until she was forced to retire, due to ill health. She had also sung in the parish choirs of St. Thomas the Apostle, Riddrie and St. Bernadette.

Edna was remembered as a lovely, quiet and gentle lady who typified so many of those who support our church’s liturgy, giving of their time and talents to help their parish communities at prayer, without any expectation of reward or recognition, but turning up faithfully, whenever asked, to sing as an “ordinary” choir member.

Sometimes we take the Ednas of the church for granted, and so it was good to have the opportunity to recognise her, and through her, their faithful and faith-filled service to the church and to give thanks for she had given.

Requiescat in pace.
