St. Mungo Singers Choir Requiem 2016

The St. Mungo Singers held their annual requiem Mass for deceased members of the choir at St. Leo the Great church on 28 February. This service is an opportunity for choir members to take time out from their busy schedule and remember those who have sung with them over the years and who are no longer with them. This year is special as it is the 45th anniversary of the choir’s founding. The concelebrants of the Mass were Mgr Gerry Fitzpatrick and Fr. Hugh O’Donnell. It was a beautiful and moving service. Episcopal Ordination of Mgr. Brian McGee as Bishop of Argyll & Isles

The episcopal ordination of Mgr. Brian McGee as Bishop of Argyll and the Isles took place before a packed congregation in St. Columba’s Cathedral in Oban on 18th February. People had travelled from all parts of the diocese and from Mgr. McGee’s former parishes in Port Glasgow and elsewhere, many braving the hold-up or diversions caused by an accident on the main road from the south. Rite of Election and Rite of Recognition and Call 2016

The sun shone for the catechumens and candidates (over 70 in total) as they arrived at St. Andrew’s Cathedral with their families and sponsors for the Rite of Election and Rite of Recognition. Inside the Cathedral, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming.
