The annual Mass for the deceased bishops and clergy of the Archdiocese was held in St Andrew’s Cathedral on 8th November. Principal celebrant, Archbishop Tartaglia, was joined by priests and parishioners from the diocese, and the music of the Mass was supported by the Archdiocesan choir, the St Mungo Singers.

Archbishop Tartaglia read out the names of those clergy who had died over the last year: Mgr Noel Woods, Canon Nicholas Rowan, Mgr Jack Sheridan, Fr Peter McKelvie and Fr. Willie Mone. He asked the congregation to remember them in their prayers, and took the opportunity to thank the Little Sisters of the Poor and Nazareth House for their care of our retired priests.

The Requiem Mass

The Archbishop had also visited the Crypt of the Cathedral with the priests to pray there before the Mass. He reflected that November is the traditional month when we pray for our deceased family and friends. Our deceased clergy will have, in their time, prayed at the bedside of many deceased parishioners and consoled many families. It was only right that in this month, we should also remember them in our prayers.
