A Morning Prayer (7) before Mass

Like the deer that years for running streams,
so my soul is thirsting for you.
Like the deer that yearns for running streams,
so my soul is thirsting, so my soul is thirsting.
Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever. Amen.
So my soul is thirsting, so my soul is thirsting.

A prayer for peace

Lord, we pray for peace in the Holy Land,
for Syria and all the other troubled countries
where people’s lives are spoiled or taken from them
by violence or war.
We pray for refugees,
and for generous hearts for those who need to show mercy.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

O God, come to our aid: O Lord, make haste to help us.
Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever.  Amen.

Psalm 17:  I love you, Lord my strength.

I love you, Lord, my strength, my rock, my fortress, my saviour,
My God is the rock where I shelter, my shield my mighty help.
I love you, Lord my strength.

The Lord is worthy of praise, He saves me from all my foes,
Long life to the Lord, God my Saviour, All praise to God who saves.
I love you, Lord my strength.

I thank you, Lord, for your love.  I praise you for all your kindness,
I love you, O God, for your goodness, I love you, Lord my strength.
I love you, Lord my strength.

Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever more.
I love you, Lord my strength.

Let us pray

God of the promise to Abraham, and of the Covenant with Moses,
you have triumphed in the raising of Christ from the dead.
Let us and all your people be filled with hope
as we thank you with new hearts and new spirits
through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Collect or Glory to God

Before the Gospel

Alleluia, alleluia.  Alleluia, alleluia.  God loved the world so much he
gave us his only son that all who believe in him may have eternal life.
Alleluia, alleluia.  Alleluia, alleluia.

The Preparation of the Gifts

God’s will is always that we might love him,
source of all graces, witnessed in Christ; love manifested,
gift of redemption, pardon for sinners.
All this through Christ.

Out of his wisdom God chose to tell us
His loving purpose set forth in Christ:
Time has its fullness, God and creation
will be united.  All this through Christ.

Benedictus verse 2

The Saviour comes to free us from our foes
from evil hands, from those who wish us ill.
So God’s great love for all his chosen people
is thus fulfilled; in these our present times.
God’s sacred oath his covenant most holy;
is called to mind, his promises made true.

Blessing

May the Lord bless us and keep us from all harm;
and may he lead us to eternal life.
Amen.
