Nicholas McGarry RIP

It was with great sadness that the St.Mungo Singers heard of the death of Nicky McGarry, a very committed member of the tenor section for many years. Nicky was one of those members whom you could rely on to turn up whenever needed and he also helped out as sacristan or Eucharistic Minister if the occasion required. His funeral took place at St Bridget’s, Baillieston on 18 August, and many of the choir were able to join his family and friends for the Funeral Mass, the music of which was led by the St. Paul’s Music Group of which his son was a member. Celebrating 45 years of the St. Mungo Singers (Pt.II)

Part 2 of the St. Mungo Singers’ celebrations was a pilgrimage to St. Andrews on 18 June by a group of 35 singers, family and friends. They set off first thing for the East Coast – and the weather was in their favour for once – and after a short service at St. James’ church in St. Andrews, there was plenty of time to experience the history of St. Andrews, the scenery, the food and the shops.
