We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give him thanks and praise. Father, all-powerful and ever-living God, we do well always and everywhere to give you thanks through Jesus Christ our Lord. He is the true and eternal priest who established this unending sacrifice. He offered himself for our deliverance and taught us to make this offering in his memory. On a happier note

On a happier note for March, Mgr. Gerry Fitzpatrick, the Director of Music for the Archdiocese of Glasgow, celebrated a milestone birthday on 17 March. In memoriam

Argyll & Isles Diocesan Choir had a very sad liturgy to attend this week – the funeral Mass of one of its members, Mrs. Celia MacDonald of Lochgilphead who was affectionately known in the choir as “Lady Gilphead”. Celia had gone into hospital for a hernia operation but died suddenly from complications arising from the surgery. Her funeral Mass was held in St. Margaret’s church in Lochgilphead on 16th March, and it was a measure of the affection in which she was held that, 20 minutes before the Mass was due to start, the church and porch were full to overflowing, and members of the choir had travelled from all parts of the Diocese and beyond to attend. The concelebrants were led by Fr. Michael Hutson, Director of the Diocesan Choir and former Parish Priest of St. Margaret’s. Celia was a warm and joyful person and she will be sadly missed in the Diocesan Choir. Our thoughts are with her family at this difficult time. The same week saw the funeral Mass of one of the oldest retired priests in the Archdiocese of Glasgow, Canon Thomas Mannion who was in his 91st year. Canon Mannion was in fact an honorary Canon of Paisley Diocese in recognition of his services to the Diocese where he lived after he retired. He had been, among other posts, a teacher at Blairs College,...

It has been recorded here by Fr Michael Hutson. http://stmungomusic.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/easter-pref-2.mp3 Download MP3 The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give him thanks and praise. We praise you with greater joy than ever in this Easter season, when Christ became our paschal sacrifice. He has made us children of the light, rising to new and everlasting life. He has opened the gates of heaven to receive his faithful people. His death is our ransom from death; his resurrection is our rising to life. The joy of the resurrection renews the whole world, while the choirs of heaven sing for ever to your...
