Mass for the Feast of  St Joseph
March 19th
2018

You alone are holy, and you alone are Lord,
and you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Glory to the Father, glory to the Son,
glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever. Amen.
You alone are holy, and you alone are Lord,
and you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Gloria, Gloria in excesis Deo,. Gloria, Gloria in excesis Deo.

Glory to God in the highest
and on earth peace to people of good will.
We praise you, we bless you,
we adore you, we glorify you,
we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son,
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,
you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer;
you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father.
Amen.

The Liturgy of the Word

1st reading:

Psalm 102:  The love of the Lord, the everlasting love blesses us all.

My soul give thanks, thanks to the Lord,
All my being bless his holy name.
My soul give thanks, thanks to the Lord,
never forget, never forget, never forget all his blessings.
The love of the Lord, the everlasting love blesses us all.

The Lord is compassion and he is love,
Slow to anger and rich in mercy.
The Lord fills your life with all that is good,
Renewing your strength, crowning your love,
Never forget all his blessings.

2nd reading:

Gospel Verse:

Praise to you, O Christ, king of eternal glory.
Praise to you, O Christ, king of eternal glory.
They are happy who dwell in your house, O Lord,
for ever singing your praise.
They are happy who dwell in your house, O Lord,
for ever singing your praise.
Praise to you, O Christ, king of eternal glory.
Praise to you, O Christ, king of eternal glory.

The Gospel: Luke 1: 39-56

The Intercessions

As we revere St Joseph, the husband of Mary
and the foster-father of Jesus,
we pray for all parents, and especially for those most in need of support.

Lord, hear us

We pray for our own families and friends.
Lord, hear us

We pray for peace in the Holy Land, Syria, Iraq
and all the troubled countries of the world.

We pray for the victims of violence and war, and for refugees.

Lord, hear us

We pray for the sick and for those who help them.

Lord, hear us

We pray for our dead,

For Phyllis Boyle, for Gerald Mallon and For Gerald Gibson, whose anniversary falls this week
And for those who mourn

Ending with:
May the souls of the faithful departed
through the mercy of God rest in peace, rest in peace.

Liturgy of the Eucharist

O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer,
when I call, answer me.
O Lord, hear my prayer, O Lord, hear my prayer,
come, and listen to me.
Sanctus: Bellahouston

Memorial: We proclaim your death, O Lord, and profess your resurrection
until you come, until you come, until you come again.

Lamb of God . . . .

Communion
This is the bread come down from heaven.
Whoever eats of it will never die.
This is the cup of eternal life.
Whoever drinks of it will live for ever.

At the end of Mass

Dear St Joseph, pure and gentle, guardian of the Saviour child,
Treading, with the virgin mother, Egypt’s deserts rough and wild.

Dear St Joseph, spouse of Mary, blest above all saints on high,
When the death shades round us gather, teach,
O teach us how to die, teach, O teach us how to die.

He who rested on thy bosom is by countless saints adored,
Prostrate angels in his presence sing hosannahs to their Lord.

Now to thee, no gift refusing, Jesus stoops to hear thy prayer;
Then, dear saint, from thy fair dwelling, give to us a father’s care.

Dear St Joseph, kind and loving, stretch to us a helping hand;
guide us through life’s toils and sorrows safely to the distant land.
